Black History Month, February 2019  - We have some exciting news to share! The Black Scranton Project will be showcasing artifacts from our from our archive. What better time and way to celebrate and share the richness of Scranton's black community than Black History Month. Unlike our first exhibition, this is a 28 day presentation—first day of the month to the last.  We has so much we want to show you. We're offering, for the first time in this city, an opportunity to appreciate Scranton through a different lens—a black perspective.

Gallery Grand Opening is Friday, February 01, at 5:00 pm and will coincide with First Friday Scranton art and cultural events. We have to give a big SHOUTOUT to Marketplace at Steamtown for allowing the Black Scranton Project to transform a vacant storefront space on the second floor into a gallery for installment and presentation of our local black history. The grand opening reception will be free and open to the public. If you can't make the opening program, no worries because we will be keeping the doors open every day off the month to give our community the opportunity to experience and take in this overlooked history.

Related Programming will take place in the in the gallery space on various dates throughout the course of the month.
