WHAT IS JUNETEENTH?

Officially known as Emancipation Day and Juneteenth, Independence Day, and Freedom Day, Juneteenth is a “word blend” for June and nineteenth. The observance of Juneteenth commemorates the June 19th, 1865, announcement of Union General Gordan Granger, who announced the abolition of slavery in Galveston, Texas, and the emancipation of enslaved African-Americans throughout the Confederate South. Despite the fact that Abraham Lincoln had issued the Emancipation Proclamation more than two years prior, the news traveled slowly in the southern states.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
